Antonín Dvořák String Sextet in A major op. 48
Dvořák's only sextet (for two violins, violas and cellos each) was written shortly after the Slavonic Dances op.46. It has a distinctly national tone in all movements. The themes are cantabile, easy to grasp and dance-like. While the frame movements are more songlike, the second movement, a dumka, alternates between dreamy and rollicking dance-like sections. And the Presto is a furiant, a fast Bohemian dance.

Ludwig van Beethoven Septet in E flat major op. 20
In his Septet for clarinet, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, cello and double bass, Beethoven strung together the six movements with a great sense of effective contrast. In doing so, he used typical forms of the Viennese classical period: Corner movements in sonata form and in between a slow movement, a variation movement, old-fashioned minuets and a modern scherzo.
