Oboe d'amore handed over as a gift from the Riemschneider Foundation

24. April 2024

An oboe d'amore was presented on November 18 as a gift from the Riemschneider Foundation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Karlsruhe University of Music. Thanks to the Riemschneider Foundation, the Hochschule was already able to acquire several instruments in previous years, including a basset horn, a saxophone, a euphonium (2014) and two baroque trombones (2018).

Already since 2013, the university has received grants from the Riemschneider Foundation for various projects amounting to more than 200,000 €. This year's master class with Brigitte Fassbaender, for example, is the twentieth master class made possible by the Riemschneider Foundation. Previous master classes have included Jörg Widmann, Peter Schreier, Christa Ludwig, Teresa Berganza and Menahem Pressler, and a total of seven opera productions – beginning with "Le nozze di Figaro" (2013) and continuing with "L'incoronazione di Poppea" (2015) and "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" (2017) and ending with this year's opera "Hansel and Gretel"– which were only possible thanks to support from the Foundation. In addition, two students each year benefit from scholarships from the Riemschneider Foundation. Thank you!
