Solidarity with Ukraine

16. April 2024

Karlsruhe University of Music

We are stunned and deeply appalled by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This is not only a deliberate attack on a sovereign state in Europe, but also an attack on the entire European security order with unforeseeable consequences for all of us. In these hours, our thoughts go out to the people of Ukraine, who have been affected by unspeakable suffering. We are extremely concerned for their well-being and lives. But we also think of the Russian people, who are being dragged into a disastrous war by irresponsible politics.

In our artistic and scientific work we are committed to all our students and teachers – regardless of their origin and nationality. People from more than 60 countries work together at our university – including from Russia and Ukraine. Our message to all is: The Karlsruhe University of Music stands for peaceful and free exchange in art and science and is committed to a transnational community of students, teachers and researchers from all over the world.

Especially today, our special solidarity is with the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian students at our university. We stand by them and will do our utmost to ensure that they can study in safety and with the best possible prospects.
