He is considered one of the greatest singers of the 20th century: Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his death, a concert in his honour was held at the Karlsruhe University of Music on 18 May 2022.
Songs by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Wolf and Robert and Clara Schumann were sung. Christiane Libor and Thomas Hampson opened the concert with three duets. Marie Seidler and Zhouhan Sun, two young singers, also delighted the audience. All were accompanied by Yuriko Watanabe and Hartmut Höll on the piano.
Between the songs, Hartmut Höll, Thomas Hampson and Stephan Mösch spoke about their personal memories of their musical time together with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
At the end, all the singers and pianists came on stage once again to bring the evening to an atmospheric close with two songs by Brahms.
The concert was recorded by the Bachelor students of the Institute for Music Journalism at the Karlsruhe University of Music under the direction of Prof. Maximilian Richter.
