Since 2004, musical theater performances for children have occurred annually on the Horse Stables rehearsal stage. The aim of these performances is to playfully familiarize children between the ages of 5 and 10 with the phenomenon of opera. For this purpose, works from the classical opera repertoire are musically and textually edited and abridged to make them accessible to young audiences. Especially for preschool and primary school children, these opera performances provide a unique opportunity to get to know characters from a wide variety of works: Figaro and Susanna, Konstanze and Pasha Selim, Puss in Boots, Papageno and Papagena, Hansel and Gretel, and of course Cinderella. During the performances themselves, young spectators have the opportunity to interact with onstage participants. Due to physical proximity between singers and audience, and the deliberately chosen open form of the pieces, children are encouraged to think and invent on different levels.
