
Mirjam Boggasch, born in Mannheim in 1969, earned diplomas in music education at the Berlin University of the Arts, German Studies at the Free University of Berlin and instrumental pedagogy with a major in cello at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. She taught music and German at Bavarian grammar schools, was involved in designing music curricula and innovative practice-oriented teaching models, and was a seminar leader responsible for the musical training of law clerks. In addition, she taught cello, voice, and led the choir at the Hof Symphony Orchestra music school in cooperation with the Musischen Gymnasium.
Since 2009, Mirjam Boggasch is Professor of Music Education at the University of Music Karlsruhe. Starting in 2010, she has been a member of the Senate and Commissioner of some appointment procedures. Currently she serves on the University Council. In addition to an introduction to music pedagogy, the curriculum includes seminars on Learning and Teaching with music and personality psychology, as well as instrumental and vocal pedagogical topics as well as courses in the Music Education master’s degree program. As part of the practice-oriented seminar Experience Music! (Erlebnis Musik!), she regularly develops and organizes student concerts and educational projects for young people, adults, and senior citizens.
Mirjam Boggasch is a coauthor of the textbook series Music Around Us (Musik um uns) and is among the editors and contributors of Musik und Unterricht magazine. She is a juror for the Rector's Conference of German Music Academies university music education competition and is active in Jugend musiziert, the German music competition for children and adolescents, as well as commissions and working groups at the State Institute for School Quality and Educational Research Munich (ISB). In addition, she participates in the selection committee of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. She regularly assumes educational leadership for artistic-educational excellence training at the State Association of Music Schools in Baden-Württemberg.
Mirjam Boggasch is a member of the Polifonia Artistic Research in Music working group in the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) and the European Platform for Artistic Research in Music (EPARM), also an initiative of an AEC.
From October 2019 to June 2023, she was prorector at the Karlsruhe University of Music. Since July 2023, Mirjam Boggasch has been Rector of the Hochschule für Künste Bremen.
