Der Komponist Max Reger

Max Reger (1873–1916)
Sonata in A minor op. 116 for violoncello and piano
Bach arrangements for piano
Suite for solo cello op. 131c No. 2

Julius Berger violoncello
Markus Becker piano

The Max Reger Institute (MRI) was founded on October 25, 1947 by Elsa Reger, the composer's widow, in the awareness that Max Reger had fallen into undeserved oblivion thirty years after his death in May 1916 and that his music was in need of mediation. From the most modest beginnings, the MRI has become a center of international Reger research over the decades, which today can build on an extensive collection of autographs. In exchange and in cooperation with musicians and scholars, with concert organizers and other cultural institutions, the institute makes Max Reger's life and work accessible to a broader public.

The concert will be followed by a reception.
