Musical Exequia SWV 279–281
The Musical Exequies were composed on the occasion of the funeral service of the sovereign Heinrich Posthumus Reuß in 1635/1636. Despite the restriction to six to eight voices, the composer achieves musical miracles with almost entirely pure basso continuo accompaniment.
