BIOGRAPHY

Hong Fu is an associate professor at the China Conservatory of Music (CCMusic) and a renowned pianist. After her studies at the at Shanghai Conservatory of Music, she moved to Germany to further her music education at Karlsruhe University of Music, where she received her Konzert Examen for piano solo and Kuenstlerische Ausbildung for piano chamber music. Notable teachers in Shanghai were Kang Quefei, Zhang Yuqing, Xiao Ming and Wu Leyi. Throughout her time in Germany, she studied with Werner Genuit, Dina Joffe, Dmitri Bashkirow and Alexander Braginsky.

Fu Hong has won several prizes in both international piano solo and piano chamber music competitions, including Fostering Young Musicians Association in Hannover, Germany (1990), the prize of Richard Wagner Association (1995), the first prize of the 8th International Paris Piano Chamber Music Competition (1996). Since 2007, she is teaching piano not only for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at China Conservatory of Music in Beijing, but also at CCMusic´s middle school. In 2009, she set up postgraduate piano chamber music courses. She is also one of CCMusic´s Master Tutors. Her students won numerous awards in piano competitions in China and abroad.

Fu Hong has performed on various stages in Europe and Asia as a soloist and as a chamber musician. In addition, she also cooperated with many famous conductors such as Peter Eotvos, Ye Cong, Yang Youqing and Jin Ye. She made recordings at the Germany Southwest Broadcast (SWR2), playing Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, and Prokofiev. In 2010, she formed the Yu piano duo with Yu Meina, and also formed Transcendent ensemble for chamber music. 

Together with Peter Eicher of Mannheim National Conservatory of Music, Fu Hong founded the Chinese-German Mannheim Piano Summer Camp to foster the music exchange between China and Germany in 2009. In addition, she has been invited to perform and give lectures at Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, CNU, National Piano Teacher Association of MUC and Heilongjiang Musical Association. She has been invited as a judge for Chinese and international piano competitions such as Wiesbaden International Piano Competition (Germany), Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition (Portugal) and Friuli Venezia Giulia International Piano Competition (Italy). In recent years, Fu Hong has recorded several video tutorials and published in academic journals such as the Piano Art and Shanghai Conservatory Music Journal.
