Competition of the Kulturfonds Baden e.V. "Bella Voce" decided

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, the competition for arias and duets from the Italian and French opera repertoire from Romanticism to Verismo, announced by the Kulturfonds Baden e. V., took place at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. It was obligatory to include a work by Jacques Offenbach. Students of the Karlsruhe University of Music in the Soloist Examination, Bachelor's and Master's degree programs majoring in voice or opera were eligible to apply. There were 18 applications; 15 candidates actually competed.

The jury has admitted seven vocal candidates to the second round. Of these, four will be awarded prizes. In addition, there is a prize for the best piano accompaniment in the amount of 1,000 euros, which goes to Yuan Ma. A young talent prize in the same amount will go to mezzo-soprano Cláudia Pereira. A third prize of 1,500 euros was won by alto Jasmin Etminan. The soprano Maine Takeda receives the second prize of 2,000 euros. Soprano Yukari Fukui won the Grand Prix and 3,000 euros.

The jury consisted of: Günther Albers, professor of the vocal department at the HfMDK Frankfurt am Main,
Veronique Walter, artistic director of the Stuttgart State Opera, Louwrens Langevoort,
Intendant of the Cologne Philharmonic, Georg Fritzsch, General Music Director of the Badisches
Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and Mathias Tritsch, President of the Kulturfonds Baden e. V.
The prize winners' concert will take place in the winter semester.
