Dr. phil. Torsten Mario Augenstein comes from Kämpfelbach-Ersingen near Pforzheim.

His academic training includes musicology with Prof. Dr. Ludwig Finscher and Prof. Dr. Herbert Schneider as well as Romance studies (Italian and Lusitanian) at the University of Heidelberg. Scientific assistance with Prof. Rudolf Walter. 1992-93 received a scholarship abroad at the Università degli studi di Palermo in Italy. 1995-2004 teaching and research activities. 2004 doctorate in musicology at the University of Heidelberg with Prof. Dr. Silke Leopold.

Since 2004 research work in the field of historical musicology. Research assistant at the University of Karlsruhe (KIT) for Italian, Portuguese and Latin. Lecturer for librettology and phonetics of Italian at the Institute for Music Theatre at the University of Music Karlsruhe, lectureship for musicology and music analysis at the University of Münster. Works as a church musician.
