Richard Strauss (1864-1949) Horn Concerto No. 2 in E flat major
60 years after his 1st Horn Concerto, Strauss composed his 2nd Horn Concerto, which, like the first, begins with a fanfare-like cadenza by the soloist and then enters into a dialogue with the woodwinds, who also dominate the idyllic slow movement. The lively, final Rondo "even turned out quite nicely", said Richard Strauss.
