"The darkness does not let you talk to it": Wolfgang Rihm sets Heiner Müller to music. Reading and conversation
According to family and associates – those who knew and loved him – Heiner Müller was a rather cheerful, good-humored person in his private life. His plays, writings and poems, however, are overshadowed by black clouds. "Optimism," goes one of the most quoted Müller bon mots, "is only the lack of information." Wolfgang Rihm has set a number of Müller's texts to music, including the opera "Die Hamletmaschine" and the song cycle "Ende der Handschrift".  Dr. Eleonore Büning will read from her… Weiterlesen

With lecturers and students of the string- and windclasses
Antonín Dvořák String Sextet in A major op. 48 Dvořák's only sextet (for two violins, violas and cellos each) was written shortly after the Slavonic Dances op.46. It has a distinctly national tone in all movements. The themes are cantabile, easy to grasp and dance-like. While the frame movements are more songlike, the second movement, a dumka, alternates between dreamy and rollicking dance-like sections. And the Presto is a furiant, a fast Bohemian dance. Ludwig van Beethoven Septet in E flat… Weiterlesen
