Piano / Historical Keyboard Instruments
A versatile education is offered in the subject of piano, based on international artistic experience and high pedagogical competence of the teaching staff.
Even during the Bachelor of Piano degree programme, pianists have the option of profiling in the areas of piano chamber music, song composition or also in the area of historical keyboard instruments with performance practice and basso continuo playing, in addition to the soloist training in the main subject. The piano training is further accentuated by compulsory subjects such as Prima Vista Playing, Improvisation and the subject didactic training. Piano is also taught as a compulsory and supplementary subject, naturally for BA students with another major subject.
In the "Master" field of study, in addition to the consecutive "Master Piano", several non-consecutive courses are offered for pianists to specialise further: "Master Piano Chamber Music", "Master Lied Composition Piano", "Master Contemporary Music" and recently also the Master "Piano / Historical Keyboard Instruments".
For highly talented, exceptionally gifted students, a PreCollege has been established at the Karlsruhe University of Music since 2006.
Here, too, the training in piano is already attuned to a modern professional profile and offers the highest international artistic level.
